The Artemide Mercury Ceiling Suspension, designed by Ross Lovegrove, is a ceiling fixture that places a floating assembly of large pebbles below a simple modern aluminum disc. These in turn reflect each other and the environment around them, bouncing light between their taut bio-morphic surfaces. Two halogen lamps sit atop the two lowest hangling pebbles, reflecting light up to the aluminum disc.
Since 1959, Artemide has created a wide array of modern table lamps, floor lamps, wall sconces and suspensions. Technologically advanced, and with styles ranging from clean and refined to sculptural and avant garde, many Artemide designs--especially the Tolomeo and Tizio--have become icons of contemporary lighting design.
